As a CEO, you don’t need to worry about Destiny Swapping. You need to worry about False Destinies and egregores.

The idea of Destiny Swapping has been sweeping TikTok, I don’t actually use TikTok, but I see the reverberations of this phrase on other social media platforms. And as a Yoruba woman, I find this utterly fascinating. Destiny Swapping is absolutely an idea that is born from Nigerian culture (and spirituality), perpetuated by Nollywood movies.

In one sense, I am glad that this idea is gaining traction in the mainstream if it gets people to consider what their destiny actually is. As someone whose work is within the realm of Destiny Alignment, I love to see it. But many are now looking at their parents, friends and neighbours, in case they have somehow stolen their Destiny, when they need to be looking at the bigger picture. They need to be looking at the main perpetrator of Destiny Swapping…

Many years ago, Vadim Zeland introduced the world to Reality Transurfing (which is now one of my favourite books on earth as it resonated so deeply with how I already saw the world) and a concept that changed how I see everything: pendulums.

A pendulum, in his book Reality Transurfing, is an energetic structure that feeds on human attention and emotion. It is born when a group of people begin thinking and feeling in the same direction. Religions, corporations, ideologies, cultural norms, these are all pendulums. They grow powerful by pulling you into their frequency. And they do not care whether that frequency serves you.

Pendulums are egregores. And egregores govern False Destiny.

An egregore is a collective thought-form. A living energetic entity sustained by the beliefs, fears, and expectations of the group that created it. It is designed to siphon energy and consolidate it with a small few. The egregore of societal expectations tells you what you should want. The egregore of religion tells you what you should believe. The egregore of your culture tells you what you deserve and what is "too much" to ask for.

You absorb these instructions before you are old enough to question them.

And then you spend years hustling toward goals that were never yours, wondering why nothing happens easily, why the doors feel heavy and why manifesting works some of the time but at other times feels like a scam.

It's because you are not in your Destiny. You are in a pendulum.

II - The signature of False Destiny

False Destiny has a very specific signature. It is always performance-shaped. It asks: what will this look like to others? It is governed by external metrics, income brackets that impress others, credentials that give you validation, and behaviour that conforms to societal expectations.

And don’t get me wrong, False Destiny is not always unpleasant. It can come with a lot of benefits. It can make you the King of the Castle, as long as you don’t go against it. Some people live inside theirs quite comfortably, until your true Destiny starts speaking.

Destiny always starts speaking.

You feel it as restlessness in work that looks good on paper. You feel it as the grief beneath achievement. You feel it as the inexplicable pull toward something you cannot justify with logic. 

The egregore will fight for you. It needs your energy. It will offer you comfort, belonging, status, money (sometimes lots of it), anything to keep you in its orbit. This is why leaving a prescribed path feels like betrayal, grief, even madness. You are not imagining the resistance. Resistance is the product of pendulums, of the egregore. 

III - Your Destiny is a different kind of reality, one that you choose

Zeland also speaks of the space of variations, the infinite field of all possible realities, already existing, waiting to be selected rather than created. You do not manufacture your future. You navigate toward it.

Your Destiny is already in that field and it does not require desperation. It requires alignment.

In fact, Zeland writes that we create excess potential when we want something too desperately, when we assign too much importance to outcomes. This excess potential creates energetic imbalance and balance-restoring forces arise to obstruct you.

This is why the person who needs the client repels them. Why the launch you've over-invested in emotionally underperforms. Why the thing you hold loosely tends to land.

When your goals are Destiny-sourced, when they arise from your genuine calling rather than egregoric pressure, the quality of your wanting changes. It becomes purposeful rather than anxious. 

The right doors are not forced open. They are the ones that open with an unexpected ease, where what you needed shows up at an almost suspicious timing, where you definitely still work hard, but you spend most of your time in the flow state. 

Your Soul has a purpose that predates your incarnation.

That is your Destiny. Not the one the egregore assigned.

IV - Escaping the pendulums

Zeland's antidote to pendulums is elegant: stop feeding them. Withdraw your emotional investment. Become indifferent - not passive - but energetically unhooked. A pendulum cannot influence you if you do not vibrate in its frequency.

For entrepreneurs, this is deep work because the pendulums we must leave are often the ones that gave us our first sense of belonging and meaning. The reason why we do the work we do. Leaving the pendulum's frequency does not mean leaving the space. It means no longer letting it dictate your Destiny.

You ask different questions. You reach internally first, before reaching outside of yourself. Instead of asking what others want and need, you start to ask what you desire - and what that desire points to in terms of your Destiny.  

Instead of asking what can you get from life, you start asking about what you desire to give.

These questions do not come from the egregore. They come from the Soul. From Destiny.

And the Soul, unlike the pendulum, always leads you to the truth.
